High Speed UK - Links to Scotland

HSUK’s south-north trunk route will extend northwards into Scotland on an east-sided route via Newcastle.  

It will approach Edinburgh (Waverley) from the south-east, and continue westwards to Glasgow (Central).  

From Edinburgh, an upgraded and restored route will extend north via Edinburgh Airport and the Forth Bridge to Perth, and thence to Aberdeen, Inverness and Dundee.  

With this core network in place, HSUK will offer the following key benefits for Scotland:

 A transformed Scottish intercity network focused upon Edinburgh Airport (EDI).

 Hourly direct high speed intercity services from Edinburgh and Glasgow to most principal UK cities.

 HSUK services extending to the Grampian & Highland regions.
