The HS2 route through the Chilterns AONB will require unprecedented lengths of tunnel, yet still cause huge environmental damage. When selecting its Chiltern route, HS2 Ltd totally neglected the obvious alternative of the M1 corridor which – as the HSUK design proves – is cheaper to build, less damaging to the environment & achieves far greater connectivity.
